Dede Mabiaku, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s former bandmate, has said Fela died slowly after being injected with a poisonous substance while in NDLEA custody.He said the late legend confided in him and in his son Seun Kuti that he had been injected. Afterwards, his health began to decline until he died.
Dede said this while expressing concern for Omoyele Sowore. He said Sowore needs to be taken for urgent medicals after being held in DSS custody to avoid a repeat of what happened to Fela.
Remember that Nigerian activist/journalist/politician Sowore was re-arrested by DSS while in court after few hours of being released from custody. This happened on 6th of December 6th 2019.He was firstly arrested on August 3 2019 by the Nigerian Department of Security Services (DSS) for alleged treason after calling for a protest tagged Revolution Now
American Senator Robert Mendez spoke against such arrest and stated that Sowore should be released as such act could mar the relationship between Nigeria and the United States.
Sowore is yet to be released as he is still in DSS custody. That could be the reason Dede gave a little revelation of what he knew that happened Fela to avoid the repetition on Sowore ‘s case.
