Police in North West are investigating a case of assault after a mother and son were attacked by two farmers with a gun and a stick.
This reportedly took place in a farm outside Schweizer-Reneke in the North West on Saturday.
The country was left outraged after the video which has been doing the rounds on social media.
In the video, the mother and son were trying to talk with a white man in a white bakkie. The man in the bakkie is heard speaking in Afrikaans asking the two how they got in his farm, before they could get the chance to explain the man started swearing at them.
The man told the two that he was going to the gate and when he comes back they would be in trouble.
The mother tried explaining that they found the gate open but the man told her that she was talking s**t, that’s when the son returned the verbal attack saying that the man will also s**t himself.
The farmer reportedly got out of his and went to attack the son but he didn’t expect what happened next. When the angry farmer attacked the son he surprisingly managed to overpower the farmer and defended himself.
A witness who reportedly saw everything said that the two went the the farm to buy a sheep and a worker from the farm opened the gate for them bet the farmer didn’t like seeing them there.
Police spokesman, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone confirmed that a case of assault with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) is opened.
“Investigation is still underway, and no one has been arrested at this stage,” he said.
