Business mogul, Aliko Dangote and Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi have initiated a dialogue between Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II in a bid to ensure a healthy relationship between both institutions.
The meeting which took place in Abuja on Friday had all the key figures exchange pleasantries, shortly after completion of the Month of Ramadhan Fast and the Sallah festive period.According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Anwar, both leaders urged the Muslim community to imbibe the good teachings and spirit of the Fasting period.
The dialogue, at the instance of Dangote and Fayemi, also addressed the indictment on the Emir by the Kano state public complaints and anti-corruption commission on allegations of corruption to the sum of over 4 billion Naira.The statement also clarified that the meeting was not at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari as speculated.
The dialogue was initiated by the Kano-born business mogul Aliko Dangote and the Chairman of Nigerias Governors Forum Dr. Kayode Fayemi. Not by President Muhammadu Buhari as earlier speculated by some section of the media. For a healthier relationship between the two institutions of government and Kano Emirate, the dialogue continues. Emir Sanusi seized the opportunity to congratulate governor Ganduje for the victory in his second term in office; wishing the governor a successful tenure in office.
However, Chairman of the anti corruption commission, Muhuyi Magaji said that as far as he is concerned, the commission has no business with any dialogue.
