How would such misery be explained? Few weeks of removing Omar al-Bashir from presidential seat , the dead came back to life. Man inhumanity to man. Only the picture could make one cry all day. Colonel Awad Awuf was jailed in in 1995 and in 2008 was pronounced dead in a plane crash. Africa has had its own share of leaders who were dictators and the dictatorship mentality still reigns in African continent.
Omar al-Bashir was born in January 7,1944 and he was the Sudanese military officer who led a revolt that led to the overthrow of the duely elected government of Sudan in 1989.He became the president of Sudan from 1993-2019.solid three decades of being the President of Sudan.
When he seized power Sudan was in the midst of 21years Civil war between the north and the south of Sudan. Although his government signed a deal to end the conflict in 2005,another war broke out in the Western part , Darfur and the International Crime court accused him of organizing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Omar al-Bashir received an international travel ban and a warrant of arrest was issued for him to be arrested. But he still made diplomatic visits to Egypt, Saudi Arabia. As he visited South Africa in 2015,the court considered whether to enforce the warrant arrest and he was made to leave South Africa in emergency.
Omar al-Bashir style of government is dictatorship. And this has led to the revolt which took place in 2019.
Finally Omar al-Bashir is finally removed from power and some atrocious acts are no more hidden. Colonel Awad Awuf has been discovered alive. Who knows the host of other leaders who might be kept in other underground prisons across the country.
